Where it started

DroneHQ started with one simple problem.

I needed a better way to track the flight hours on my drones. DJI flight data existed, but the information I needed as a pilot was not easy to find, manage, or use.

At the time, DroneHQ did not have a name. It was not a platform. It was not a business system. It was just a problem I needed solved.

I am not a big corporation. I am an everyday drone pilot who saw a need. I have been flying drones for years, building real-world experience, helping other pilots, and learning what it actually takes to run a drone operation.

Why DroneHQ exists

Drone pilots should not need ten different apps to run one operation.

The more I flew, the more I realized how scattered everything was.

Too many disconnected tools

Flight logs in one place. Aircraft records somewhere else. Batteries, maintenance, preflight checks, customers, reports, mileage, billing, invoices, maps, and business records spread across different systems.

Built for pilots, not around them

A lot of companies are building around drone pilots. Some are built to hire pilots, manage pilots, or take a piece of the work. DroneHQ is being built for the pilot.

Workflows should be easier to see

That is also why I share drone information and workflows through my YouTube channel. Sometimes seeing a real workflow is easier than reading another article or trying to piece everything together yourself.

The DroneHQ philosophy

If it does not exist, build it.

One of the biggest turning points came early in the build. I looked at using an outside API service for something DroneHQ needed, and the cost was around $12,000.

That made the decision clear. If DroneHQ needed something important, and it did not make sense to depend on someone else for it, I was going to build it.

That philosophy became part of DroneHQ: own the workflow, build what matters, and keep the platform focused on what drone operators actually need.
